Lena Rotenberg was born in Brazil, where she was an academic research physicist until 1985 when she started teaching science, TOK and math while pursuing a law degree in the evenings. After coming to the U.S. in 1991 she specialized in instructional technology, and since 1997 has worked in the Washington D.C. area as a self-employed educational consultant. She has been a TOK examiner since 1990, served as deputy chief assessor from 1995 to 2000, and since 1997 has led numerous teacher training workshops in three continents. She was appointed Forum editor in 1999, and in 2003 launched the Forum website you are now visiting. She is currently co-founding an educational and environmental not-for-profit organization called Simplicity Matters Earth Institute. To Lin-Chi’s “When hungry, eat your rice; when tired, close your eyes” Lena adds, “and laugh and hug as much as possible.”
